Movies

Kyndi's favorite movies: Annie, Enchanted, Snow White, Wizard of Oz (She always invites me to watch Annie with her, cuz it's my "favorite")

Oaklee's favorite: Enchanted. Hands down. She'd watch Enchanted non-stop if I'd let her. And it's hilarious cuz if I sit down to watch it with her she gives me the play by play so that I am quite certain that I know every detail of what is taking place.

Oh, and for the record, Kyndi's favorite animal is a flamingo. No idea where that comes from.

An Exact Portrait of Me

Kyndi drew this picture of me last week at preschool. Looks just like me don't you think?

(I'm especially fond of the pigtails and the 3rd leg) Please note the grass, sky and sunshine

Bedtime Visitor

A few nights ago I was making the "tuck-in" rounds. I started in the girls' room, tucked Oaklee and Kyndi in and told all 3 goodnight, then moved on to Tate's room where Tyson is currently sleeping as well (because the basement creeps him out). Tucked Tate in all tight like a mummy and said goodnight to them. Went to my room to get Dayton (which is where I had left him) but he wasn't in there. Soon I heard massive giggling coming from Oaklee... I walked in there to find this:

Vacuumed Hair Anyone??

Any of you ever get to experience the joys of the vacuum hose sucking up your hair (or arm or belly..etc..) when you were little? My kids got this experience the other day. I was vacuuming the edges of the hallway with the hose and Kyndi and Dayton kept taunting me and running... I decided to show them a trick... I stuck the hose near Kyndi's head and let it vacuum up her hair. Hilarious! They loved it! So much in fat that Oaklee (who is deathly terrified of vacuums) came running to join in. There's also a fancy trick you can try... Put the end of the hose on your face so that it's half on your cheek and half on your mouth and then proceed to open and shut your mouth. It makes a hideous monstrous noise that even Morrissa was cracking up over.

A few days later I was using the shop vac in the kitchen and Dayton wanted to try using it so I handed him the hose - he immediately went for the girls' hair!

(Oh and PS Oaklee is no longer afraid of the vacuum)

Master Chef

Apparently Dayton thinks he's a great helper when I am cooking. He and Oaklee often fight over who gets to sit on the counter next to me whilst I cook... Today, Dayton even got to "help". He held the measuring cup so well in fact that he refused to let me have it to dump in the pot!!

Princess Fiona?

(Minus the green skin and Ogre body)

Kyndi wanted to do her hair today, all by herself. We had no where important to be so I said Go ahead!! She was in the bathroom a good twenty minutes before emrging with this delightful harido. She was so proud of herself! She said, "I want Morrissa to think you did it and not me"

More on Dayton's Language

Dayton's knows more words these days, but to most people you'd think he was just babbling. I however, am wih him all day everyday and I now recognize some of his words

Moh - Remote Control

Muh - More

Buh-buh - Bye bye

Baa-baa - Baby

Bah-Bah - Sippy, or drink

Uh uh - No (He can be really bratty sometimes)

Oh-oh - anytime he drops something

Neenuh Neenuh (When he's being a booger-head)

And of course Bah! Which is his favorite word - (ball) that's all he ever wants or talks about around here. (He's obsessed)

He says Mom, Mommy and Mama really well, but do not confuse this with "Maw" which is the word he uses for everything else that he doesn't yet speak the words for!

He knows everybody's name in the family - he doesn't say any of them (Except mom) but if you ask where each person is, he'll point to them. He also knows who spongebob is, and Pyper (our bird).

Faces

Ever since Oaks was little, if she wanted something I'd say, "let me see if you're beautiful", to which she would respond with a smile. So cute. Now with Dayton I'll say, "Let me see your nice face" and he totally cheeses it! Love it! (Yes, that's a sparkly headband on his noggin)

Here's Oaklee's beautifulness:

Snuggle Butts

Look at these cute little snuggle butts!!

No chance of getting them both to look at the camera at the same time... (And look at the Bratski in the middle picture)

Mad Dancing Skills

Every week it is a different kids turn to have a "mom date". This usually involves going to get a treat and go look around the dollar store or something... Last week it was Tate's turn. He asked if we could just stay home and play Disney Dance Revolution together. What a blast! He hadn't played it yet. As we were playing he said, "If I use my Hip Hop Skills, I do better" Hilarious!! He has some good moves! (Although I somehow never caught my favorite one on camera)

This looks like a leprechaun move to me!!
(Please either avoid looking at the clutter of boxes piled behind him, or else note that they are my DI boxes that I continously forget to take to the drop off. Also, yes, there is a bottle of apple juice on my floor (I was thirsty) and I think in a picture or two you may see some unfolded laundry. I DESPISE laundry, so it may eventually get folded and put away)

Tate decided to snap a few pictures of my mad dance skills as well.

Jonathan - this one is for you, since you think this is the only way I know how to dance.

Eyeballs.

So. I have Brown eyes. I have 6 kids. 1 has brown eyes. The rest are everything but. Tyson and Morrissa have Hazel like their dad. Tate has bright blue. Kyndi has Brown. Oaklee has blue. And Dayton has green (a really pretty green). What is this?? So weird!

Bless His Heart

Yesterday Tate came home from school in utter dismay. I asked him what was wrong, "My friend told me today they are losing their house in foreclosure. That means they have no more house. I'm worried." As he told me this his eyes filled with tears. He really was worried. I talked to him and explained he wouldn't be homeless and everything would be okay. He cheered up a bit after that, still bummed he'd be moving, but not so worried anymore. What a cute boy!

White popcorn

I recently got an air-popper (for popcorn). The other day popcorn sounded good to me so I made a batch. The three little kids and Tyson were home and all 4 of them were fascinated watching it pop the popcorn right out into the bowl (Apparently this is a huge phenomenon for people who always thought popcorn only came in microwavable bags!) The kids watched the whole process. I got them each a bowl of it (after adding some salt and butter) and none of them really enjoyed it much. Kyndi said she doesn't like it, "It's too white" - Apparently the popcorn has to be yellow to be good. Hilarious! Oaks actually ate all hers, but she'll typically eat anything in sight. As for Dayton, he wouldn't even try it!

The Attitude Queen

Oaklee is Queen of Attitude. She always gets her little attitude voice going and says this like "Whatever!" or "I said so!" or "You a poopyhead!" (Many times these comments are provoked by me or Kamron cuz its so stinkin funny) One of my favorites she says is "You're polkadotted!"

Today's conversation went a little like this:

Me: Oaklee, you're a turkey head
Oaks: Your crazy!
Me: Whatever!
Oaks: Utever yourself!
Me: You're a silly goose
Oaks: You're stinkin bootiful!

I'll take that!

I've Created a Monster

I had just returned home from school and was in my room trying to talk to Kamron about my class... we were continuously interrupted by each and every child in this house. I finally shut the door only to have a child (Kyndi) knock on it 2 seconds later, In exasperation I yelled "Go away" to which Dayton responded (in equal yelling tones) "Go Aday!" Oops - apparently I say that often?? (Completely hilarious though! and when I laughed over it, he kept saying it over and over followed by giggling because he thought he was pretty funny too)

Blast From My Past

Growing up my mom would very oftenly make bread in a breadmaking machine.. The bottom piece would always have a hole in the middle because of the stirrer thingy in the machine - nobody wanted that piece (it obviously had less bread than the other pieces) so we had my youngest brother (Jameson) convinced that if he ate that piece, he'd be a Power Ranger when he grew up!! (It was the "magic keyhole") Worked everytime!! ha ha

**This video frustrates me. When I first put it on here it worked really well. Now it's showing a blank black screen... is anyone able to actually view it??**

Kyndi and Oaklee do dance performances at least daily - they are generally far more intense than this video shows but somehow once the camera was rolling they weren't dancing the same...

Morning Routine

Every morning the little girls get up on the little step-stool in my bathroom so that I can do their hair before Kyndi goes to school. It usually doesn't end with the little girls. Dayton almost always hast o take his turn on the stool. He loves when I brush his (almost non-existent) hair. Today he insisted on a ponytail.
Here he's knocking on the bathroom door trying to get Oaklee out of there

Crayons

One of Dayton's favorite pass-times:

(His other favorite pass-time is food-related)

He's never allowed to have crayons, for the simple reason that each time there is new coloring found on the walls, Dayton is the one undoubtedly holding a crayon in his hand. However, this doesn't keep him from finding them and running off with them. Seriously, this kid must have secret crayon stashes, cuz everytime I am certain the crayons are all out away, he finds a fistful somewhere. (Thank goodness for magic erasers)

He does love to color though. A few days ago, he spent over an hour sitting next to me on the Love Sac coloring whilst I was doing homework (or something equally productive).

One of the Girls

I've learned that for Dayton there may be a down-side to being surrounded by his two sisters all day everyday while the other kids are at school... He wants to be just like them, and do everything they do. This isn't always a bad thing, but if you ask his dad, sometimes it is detrimental to his image...

On this particular day (as with most days) Oaklee asks to be a pwinthess... to her this means wearing a dress. Once Kyndi sees her all dressed up, she generally goes straight for her closet to change into one of her dresses. This time, Dayton pulled me to the closet he and Oaks share and pointed while "eh, eh, eh-ing" So, he too got to be a pwinthess for the day.

Apparently, he thought this was pretty funny...

Tate's struggling, and it's breaking my heart. My kids are all very well behaved, very good children. Tate is no exception. There's nothing he wouldn't do to cheer someone up. He's stinkin adorable.. but he has his days, and lately they're coming a little more often and I really don't know how to help him anymore.

Everyday the past two weeks or so have been a struggle. Either he's smacking his sister, or crying because he thinks everyone hates him. most days he can be found in his room, in his bed, not wanting to do anything with anyone. he's gotten a whole lot mouthier lately and many times breaks rules he knows he's breaking. The poor kid is grounded all too often, the other kids are getting frustrated with him, and I'm at a total loss for what to do. I don't really know why I'm even blogging about this - but I need some advice - anyone??? He's just so stinkin cute, I hate to see him this way - it's almost like he's depressed. I talk to him about life all the time and why he makes the choices that he does, but he usually comes up with responses like "I guess I'm just a bad kid" What??!? Does he really feel that way? Or is this part of his 'I need more attention' act? He's seen far too many groundings lately, but along with those he's seen a lot more of my time, and gotten many more hugs than usual.. I just don't know how else to help him. Poor kid.

Isn't it Winter???

I think there are days Kyndi forgets it is winter-time. Today was one of those days.

Here We Come to Save the Day

The kids have recently discovered the excitement of blanket capes. The girls asked me to tie blanket capes on them. As soon as Dayton saw them he had to have one too. He found a HUGE ol blanket and dragged it to me with his "eh, eh, eh" voice. I found him a more fitting blanket and tied it on. Occasionally it'd fall off with all his adventures throughout the house and he'd immediatly grab it and run to find me to put it back on.

Aliens in the Basement

Aliens, Mice, what's the difference? I'm not afraid of mice, but apparently when they run across my feet in the basement, I scream involuntarily.

I really am not afraid of mice - I do HATE the idea of them in my house, eating my food and running through my stuff though. That's just gross. We recently caught a mouse in the basement and I was relieved - then yesterday I went down to get some ribbon from my craft desk, I unintentionally kicked a bag on the floor and out ran the mice - right across my feet!! I suddenly heard this crazy scream and it took me a moment to realize it came from me! I'll admit, it was a little freaky. Yuck!

Immediatly after I returned up stairs with my full mouse-sighting report, Tate went on a mouse hunt. He "Kicked everything, and looked everywhere." Never found them. Oaklee keeps referring to them as scary monsters and won't go to the basement. Kyndi went down for a minute, but she stays up on a chair while Tate does all the hunting.

Published

I received my blogs printed up in a hard-cover book book today!! Now granted, I ordered them that way, it's not like they just appeared out of the blue, but I am so happy about them! They are wonderfully awesome, and will be a great addition to my bookshelf! One is all the posts of 2008 - the other is January - June 2009 If anyone wants to do this - it takes some work, but the program is fairly user friendly... If you wanna make one of these for yourself, go to http://www.blurb.com/ - have fun!!

Some Random Bits

This is Oaklee's "hideous" face - she thinks its hilarious

This little dude always has his tongue hanging out, always.

Loo-hoo loves getting her picture taken. She poses all sorts of poses.

This here is my finger - weird picture, I know, but it was so freakin swollen I thought my finger guts would pop right out of my skin! What caused this crazy phenomenon? Shoveling the snow! Crazy! I actually have really horrendous circulation in my hands and feet and are most oftenly numb anytime I am cold. This time however, I was in the cold, shoveling the snow, and I got quite the opposite reaction. A swollen digit. Odd. So naturally I took a picture for documentation.

Fit!!

I must apologize, but I just hafta post another fit of Dayton's - I just can't resist. They are quite the show to watch!

The last one is his total exasperation, throwing his full body against the wall, head banging and all. What an episode!
