Obedience

Yesterday after Oaklee used the potty I told her to go get some underwear on. She's so obedient!

20/20?

Oak’s has an obsessive issue with glasses. She loves to try them on - but, she only tries them on so that I’ll take a picture. She thinks it’s hilarious…

What's the Word?

Dayton doesn't talk. He never even tries, just makes a series of crazy noises at varying degrees of loudness to get his point across. He's hilarious. He does a lot of pointing, and he shakes his head yes and no depending on what he wants or does not want. (His yes is hilarious!! He has to focus so hard to make his head nod up and down).
A few days ago he spoke. What was his first word? Well, Tate's was "Fsh" (fish) Kyndi's was "Tayd" (Tate) Oaklee's was "Uss-at" (What's that) Tona's...drumroll please... "mama" !!! Woohoo!! I am so thrilled. But in the past few days he has so over used the word I might go crazy!! Time to learn a new word!!

Only Shunshine

Today Oaklee was in the kitchen repeatedly singing the words "Only Shunshine" - Apparently the only words she knows to "You Are My Sunshine" I walked in to take a peak, and not only did I find her singing, but strumming the rolling pin like a guitar too!!

Shy? I Think Not.

Tyson is a very shy kid. He likes to keep to himself in social surroundings. At least that's what we've thought all along...

His school recently had a nerd day... this is how he chose to go to school:

Seriously, he can be a total crack up! Look at that face!!

Pumpkin Guts

When I was little I didn't enjoy carving pumkins much because I hated the pumpkin guts... they took forever to get out of my pumpkin!! The other day we set out to carve pumpkins...in past years I have avoided helping by making dinner or cookies or taking pictures whilst the carving was going on. This year I helped. And guess what? The guts aren't so bad, they don't take nearly as long as an adult as I remember them taking as a child!! Maybe pumpkins have ceased in so much gut production since then, I don't know. But we had fun.
Each kid gets a pen and draws the face they want onto their pumpkin, then Kamron and I open the pumpkins and the kids clean them out. (I helped Kyndi and Kamron did Oaklee's) Then we carved them up according to what was drawn. (Tyson carved his own) (We don't quite trust Moe with a knife yet...) :)

Here's what we created!!

Morrissa's has a wart on it's nose (Can't really see that from the picture) and a unibrow. I think hers gets the award for creativity. Oaks just made scribbly polka-dots all over hers so Kamron invented a face for hers, which he claims is the scariest of all the pumpkin faces. Dayton was sleeping during the carve-fest, and for pictures, he was throwing a fit on the sidewalk!!

Tony Tiger

When Dayton was born, my Grandpa Joe gave him a stuffed tiger. Because “Talmage” (that’s what Grandpa Joe calls him) was so small at the time, the tiger was shelved. A few days ago he discovered it on the shelf and pointed frantically at it. I handed it to him and he snuggled it. Now they are inseparable. If there comes a time he’s without it, I Simply say “where’s Tony Tiger?” and he races to find it. And when I put him to bed he looks around for it. When we get him out of bed, he first eaches for us to get him out and then he quickly turns around and reaches for Tony Tiger so we remember to get him out too.

Baked Bones and Blood

We had my parents and youngest brother James over for dinner a few weeks ago. What they didn’t know is that I planned it out to be a Halloween dinner… We had Baked Bones, Ants and Fleas, Fingers & Eyeballs, Blood for a drink, with brains for ice cubes, and Slime Pie for dessert. Yum!!
Translation: Manicotti with large mushrooms at each end (baked bones), Ants and Fleas was wild rice with a variety of spices added. (looked more like weevils and maggots), For the Eyeballs and Fingers, there was a dish of baby carrots and grapes baked in a white creamy sauce (very tasty), The blood was Raspberry Lemonade with gummy brains I froze into ice cubes, and Key Lime (Slime) Pie for dessert.
My dad was a wee bit put off by the whole disgusting idea… he had a rough time even eating a grape that he clearly knew was a grape but was labeled an eyeball. It was a fun time. I seriously wanna make this a yearly tradition!

Commercials

Remember when you were little and it was so cool when the same commercial repeated itself twice in a row? (Was that just me who thought it was cool?)
Well this morning I sat through a hideously boring/annoying commercial, just to have it repeat itself again! Not so cool!

Monsters in Our Midst?

Look who dropped by the Mart last night!

These are some other recent visitors... (These pictures are from early September or late August I think)

Now let me tell you all the tale of the swiss cheese man. (Those faint of heart may not enjoy the following story)

My friend Tiffani and I were working at the Customer Service Desk one night when a man walked past that deserved a second look... I grabbed Tiff and made her come look with me. This was a very large man, his pants were sagging below his bottom and his underwear was so worn and full of holes you pretty much got a perfect view of his big hairy disgusting bottom. Seriously, could he not feel the draft?? (Thankfully I did not get a picture of that one...)

The Curse of the Pig

So... Kyndi started with her miserable sickness on Saturday. It was just a major fever and over-sleepiness. She had no other symptoms. By sunday night I was super worried. I decided I'd take her to the dr first thing monday morning. Monday morning came and she was up and happy and no fever. She was back to her normal self. Oh good.

Then came Tuesday... she awoke with a fever again, and a cough. Took her to insta care. They stuck a swab-thinger clear up her little nose. (She hated that!!) Went home and she rested. (pretty much the same thing she's done since saturday)

Wednesday she seemed a little better but now her throat hurts. Dayton's been extra whiney... and woke up from nap time with a slight fever. Took him to his dr. They pulled Kyndi's test results from instacare and found her Swine flu results were positive. No doubt that's what Dayton has. They ran a quick 15 minute test to verify. Yep. Dayton has it too.

Here's the problem with that news... Kyndi having it didn't bother me so much. She's considered "low risk" and other than watching her suffer, not much we could do, and I knew she'd be okay. Dayton however was born with lung issues and has had problems ever since. He is considered 'high risk'. The dr prescribed two medications for his nebulizer to help his lungs keep functioning okay. Then he also got an antibiotic for his ear infections (in both ears) (seriously, when this kid gets sick, he gets it all) and then Tamiflu which is the swine flu medication. I'm to watch him carefully and if his fever rises or he seems to be struggling with breathing or if his cough gets worse I hafta take him back in.

Now, in all reality, I know he'll be fine. But I'd be lying if I said that panic didn't hit me. It hit me HUGE! I don't want him back in the hospital. That's not a fun time.

You should seriously see every thing I left the pharmacy with!! The clerk at the pharmacy was laughing over it. dayton's nebulizer meds come in big ol boxes - and there were two boxes for each one.

Now we've got Morrissa sick too. 3 kids down, 3 to go, and all while Kamron is in Wyoming for work. Its crazy!!

Any ideas on how to get a 15 month old to actual like using his nebulizer??

A New Kissing Technique

Little Dude is brand new to giving “mooches” (this is a kiss for those not familiar with the term) He loves to give slobbery kisses to me and the kids. He started a new technique today. He planted a slobbery mooch on my cheek today and quickly bit down hard and would not let go! I had to yell for Tate to come help me. Ouch!! Beware of Dayton’s mooches!!

Tona Loves Kyndi

Kyndi woke up with a fever again this morning. All She wanted to do was lay on the floor in a blanket and watch tv. It wasn’t long before Dayton was right next to her patting her head. Then he tried snuggling right up with her. I was torn between watching the total cuteness in front of me, or separating her for germ avoidance reasons. Germ avoidance quickly won. Sorry Tona.

Issues with the Tooth Fairy

Tate lost a tooth yesterday. It has been loose forever. He was thrilled that the tooth fairy would be bringing him some money for his tooth. Well, to his utter dismay, the tooth fairy never showed. (Oops)

Being the quick-thinking mom that I am, I explained that maybe she was extremely busy last night so maybe she'd make a special appearance today while the kids were all at school. Tate's reaction: "Oh! I bet she will! Okay, I'll go put my tooth back under my pillow"

He got home from school, ran to his room and... the tooth fairy forgot, again!!! What?!?! What kind of crappy tooth fairy do we have living around here???

Tate's disappointment broke my heart.

So, being the wonderful mom that I am, I texted the tooth fairy. We got a response back right away. I showed it to Tate. It said something about I'm sorry I've been so busy, I promise I will stop by tonight. Thank you for waiting. And it showed up as coming from the actual tooth fairy!Phew! Problem solved! (Now hopefully she remembers her promise when night time arrives!)

(And thank goodness for friends who are willing to send tooth fairy messages, and for the ability to change contact's names in my phone to say "Tooth Fairy")

Sharing Germs

Oaklee saw me with a drink and wanted some, I shook my head no. Tate quickly explained to her why she doesn't want any. The conversation went like this:

Tate: Oaklee, you can't share germs with people or you could get Mono
Me: Tate, what's mono?
Tate: Its a bad disease you get from sharing germs
Me: Really? Where did you learn about that?
Tate: From Kale, he knows all about it. If you get Mono you hafta get surgery
Me: Really? Why?
Tate: Well, they hafta cut your stomach open
Me: Why?
Tate: They cut it open to get all the food you shared out of there. Then they have to stitch it all back together
Me: Then does the sickness go away?
Tate: Well you do stay in bed for about 10 days to get better.
Me: Wow! Sounds serious!
Tate: It is. Be careful.

I had no idea his friend Kale was such a medical expert.

Mom!!!

It never ceases to amaze me how a child will continuously call “mom” over and over hoping for a response rather than just coming to find me. It would certainly save them a ton of time!

When Sleepiness Consumes You...

I love the days when kids are too hungry to sleep but too tired to eat…

Going…

Going…

Gone…

Anna

Seeing how my brother is severely lacking on his blogging ablilities lately, I decided I better write a tidbit on Anna Louise. Who is that you say? My niece. Jonathan’s baby. She was born July something or other. 13th? 14th? I cannot remember for sure. But, the important thing is I have cute pictures. (and I’ll let you in on a secret…She told me last time we spoke that her favorite aunt is the one who makes her bracelets and bows) ;)

Their Own Olympic Event

A favorite pass-time for Little Dude at our house is crawling all over his dad. He thinks its hilarious, and most times he is so proud of himself for conquering the task. He squeals and laughs the whole time he climbs. If he falls off, he gets right back up and starts over. On this particular day he was having so much fun, Oaklee and Kyndi joined in.

(The Best part was when Dayton's diapered bum sat right on Kamron's face)

Shoelaces Anyone?

Anytime I have my shoes on in my house lately, Oaklee comes to them like a magnet. She unties them and then “ties” them. Of course she is only 2 ½ so she can’t tie shoes the same way we know of… but hers is fantastic!! Not only does it look lovely, it also stays in place for days! She just wraps the end of the lace in and around itself a half a gazillion times. She loves to do it. It’s like she is addicted to it. Check it out.

What’s interesting to me is when Tate was 2 he’d find every shoe in the house to untie. I could tie triple-quadruple knots and he’d soon find a way to untie them… What’s with my kids and shoelaces?

Sale of the Week?

You’ve all seen the crowds that line up at store entrances the day after Thanksgiving for the traditional “Black Friday” shopping. Well I bet none of you have ever participated in this crowd:

Seriously, this picture was taken one morning when Kamron and I made a run to the DI and apparently arrived a few moments before the doors opened for the day. I so wish that the camera on my phone had a zoom feature. This picture doesn’t show well enough the large-ness of the crowd. There was at least 30 people waiting to get in. Total Madness.

When Nature Calls

Oaklee mentioned she needed “potty” so I sent Kyndi in with her while I was doing homework. I got a little busy with homework and soon realized they had been in the bathroom a long time… I entered the bathroom to find that Kyndi was the one sitting on the toilet, and Oaklee had apparently decided the bath tub was a better option for pooping in, and she’d also somehow reached a conclusion that poop made for good finger paint. Pretty sure that’s the last time I send Kyndi in to “help”. (Find gratitude in the lack of pictures here)

Amazing Eater Award

A few weeks ago I had reason to believe that Kyndi is by far my best eater. Somehow her plate is always clean before the other kids. Somedays I swear I look down and before I even look up again she has eaten everything on her plate. The rule at our house is you eat everything on your plate if you want dessert. She does excellent at this… or so I though… We recently took her booster seat down for a cleaning and we found this:

The perfect storage spot for all unwanted food. (Sadly this picture doesn't do it justice, because we had already cleaned out half the food) Question is, how did not one of us ever even see her doing it? You’d think with the million of us that there are, that at least someone would notice?! Wow, she definitely gets a star for creativity and sneakiness!!

Funny thing is, Oaklee must have noticed because a few days later I kept reminding Oaklee to eat her cereal and a few minutes later I discovered her pouring it into the bottom of Kyndi’s booster seat, milk and all. (Why she didn’t use her own booster for this is beyond me)
...Kyndi's no longer my best eater these days... wonder why that is?

Breakfast Quiz

Can anyone guess what Dayton had for breakfast? I’ll give you two guesses..

Monsters In Our Midst

The time was near 10 pm, children were all sleeping snuggly in bed, I’m just winding down , heading to bed after a long day, and then I hear it. THUMP THUMP THUMP as the THUMP continues I hear the terrified voice of Oaklee “Month-ter!” (Monster). I leap from my bed and run out to find that the “Month-ter” is in fact an off balance washing machine spinning out of control. Oakee in her frightened state ran to her bedroom door and slammed it shut. Somehow everyone else slept through the Monster roar.

Skip ahead 4 days or so, I’m lying in bed watching tv near midnight when I hear a thunderous thump. It shook the house. I set out on an investigation and found the thump was Morrissa falling from her bunk bed to the floor. She was a heaping mass on the floor and somehow miraculously still asleep. How does one fall from so high and still maintain a sleeping function?? I woke her up so she could get back in bed - that conversation went something like this: “Morrissa you need to climb back in bed” “What? Why?” “You fell out of your bed” “No I didn’t I got down here all by myself” “Moe, you fell so hard the house shook.” “Whatever”. And while still in this half slumbered state she could not for the life of her figure out how to get back in bed. Hilarious!! The best part is, the next morning she told all the kids she had a dream last night that she fell out of bed!!

Oaklee's Language

Here are a few of the words Oaklee uses that I love and wanted to take note of...

Horthee - Horsey, Horse

Thith-thing - Fishing

Olee - Oaklee

Tython - Tyson

Thippy - Sippy (Dayton's sippy cup - she says this anytime she thinks Dayton needs a nap)

Tate-ton - Dayton

DeeDee - Kyndi

Moe - Morrissa

Kamwin - Kamron (she sometimes calls her dad by his first name - hilarious!)

Tayyyt - Tate (she exagerates the y)

Saw-wee - Sorry (She says this as soon as she's done something she shouldn't have to avoid

getting into "Twubble")

Today she as sitting on my bed drawing on a paper while I was doing my homework, Dayton climbed up and she shook her head no and said, "Homewurt Munchee" Which meant "You can't be up here, we're doing homework Munchy" (I sometimes call him Munch or Munchy)
