My two sisters really are my best friends.
Sharli (ChaCha Louise) lives up in Logan (with her husband Dan) which is much too far from us here in Spanish Fork but we talk multiple times a week.
Some highlights of Sharli
*She called me one day needing a distraction cuz she had just had a most horrible job interview and needed me to distract her from thinking about it. Later that day, she got the job!
*We call eachother when driving home from places just to help pass the driving time – and one time recently she panickly says “hang on!” and I hear some commotion on the other end of the phone – Apparently she was passing a cop and quickly tossed the phone aside so as not to get caught.
*She teaches first grade in Garland (Utah) And I am quite certain she is fabulous at it.
*Many moons ago she moved to New York to be a nanny. She was struggling there for a while and whereas I do not remember the details leading to her struggle, I do remember I was so worried about her. So worried in fact that I bought me a plane ticket and flew out to stay a few days with her in the hopes of cheering her up. It was a grand ol time. (And I bought a coat there for like 10 bucks!)
*Sharli used to get laughing/giggling spells so badly that she’d crawl between her mattresses in an effort to stop them. She apparently has no recollection of this but I guarantee it happened often.
*She likes to taunt Kamron with me at BYU games
*Just 2 weeks ago she had some major strep throat going on – and my parents were out of town. It hurt far too much for her to talk, so I texted her daily to find out how she was doing – I even looked up home remedies for her to try. I was so. Glad. When she finally felt better and we could talk on the phone again.
*I have memories of Sharli continuously watching one of four movies when we were little; The Sound of Music, Mary Poppins, Swiss Family Robinson and Beauty and the Beast.
You can check out her blog here
Then there is Penelope Kaddidlehopper (Samantha) who is currently serving a mission in Arizona for roughly 3 more weeks. Woot! (That's a word she uses alot)
Here are some highlights of that chica:
*When Sam was little she struggled with her homework and I remember spending lots of time helping her with her homework
*Samantha one time puked up a whole strawberry – seriously – it was not even chewed! How does one do that?
*One of her favorite foods was broccoli and she hated peanut butter
* All us kids growing up had bedrooms in the basement. I had my own room and I remember one particular night that I awoke from a terrifying nightmare and was crying. I was so freaked out I didn’t dare even move. I wanted so badly to get upstairs to my mom but all I could do was cry. Samantha, in the wee hours of the night heard me and came to my room and crawled into my bed with me.
*Samantha is such a worrier – she worries about anyone and everyone all the time.
*Before her mission, she and I would text eachother song titles and lyrics to songs all day long - but there was a game element to it - it couldn't be just any title or lyric - it had to have at least one word in it that the previous title or lyric had. It was a great game. We also would pick a word like "rain" and have a competition to see who could come up with more titles and lyrics than the other. Fun stuff. I'm excited to start that up again when she returns to the cell phone world.
*Favorite quote of hers "Ya, sometimes my lips get chappy"
Both of my sisters and I used to pose for all kinds of pictures whilst holding various props and making delightfully hideous faces with eachother. There is a hooker-ish picture of me and Sharli from when we were little - like I was 11 so she was like 6 or something - but I have no digital copy of suc h so I am unable to post it.
Also - there was a year that my family was vacationing at a condo in SunValley and for some reason (I fail to remember the reason) we got hooked on Celine Dion's "It's All Coming Back To Me" - and we'd play it over and over and over and sing it at the top of our lungs. I dare say that is now "our song" I am quite certain there are many more things I could report on my sisters but my brain is struggling in the memory department at the moment.
My sisters really are my very best friends. I only wish (597% ) that I lived closer to them. I think the 3 of us really need to take a fun Disney trip together. (Or something equally awesome)
