The Blizzard That Wasn't and The One That Was

So...Let me tell you an adventurous story... Last week we had "Severe Blizzard Warnings" across the state. The news was saying stay in your homes, don't go anywhere unless its an emergency. They emphasized the need for emergency kits in our homes and gave information on what to do if we were out of power for days...etc. It was madness! The stores were crowded with people getting last minute groceries.. It was panic central - they shut down all the schools and a lot of companies stayed closed to avoid the storm. This was going to be the "worst storm in decades" and "the storm of the century" Then the storm hit and we got a total of a half inch of snow. Seriously. It was super lame.
Now, Enter yesterday... That my friend was when the real storm hit! We drove 10 - 20 MPH the entire trip home. It was horrible. Snow was piling up and the roads were horrendous. What should have been a 5 hour drive turned into almost a 9 hour drive. Miserable. Jersi was so good though, being stuck in her carseat all that time! The road conditions were so bad we just came home and left the kids at my mom's for one more night. But get this...Farmington and Salt Lake are both reporting 10 to 12 inches received from the storm, Nephi and Fillmore (both South of us) are reporting 9 and 10 inches from the storm. Even Cedar City got 6 inches. Spanish Fork got maybe an inch at the most. What?!? How is that even possible? Crazy!!  Anyways - it was a great weekend - but the drive home was one frightening adventure!!

This picture is actually on a mild stretch... on the right hand side you can barely see the welcome to Cedar City sign... From this point it just got progressively worse...
