My poor Car... Actually, poor Kamron. A week ago or so (maybe closer to a week and a half) Kamron and Tyson were headed home from somewhere and right before they reached our house my Neon (which I bought when I was 18 - don't do the math..) up and died. It'd turn over but not start. They pushed it the rest of the way home and into the driveway. Seeing how this is Kamron's mode of transportation to and from work in Sandy everyday, he set to work right away trying to find the problem. From everything he read online it seemed something was some how wrong with the fuel pump - or parts therein. He took it all apart underneath and picked up some parts at the junkyard and replaced the fuel regulator. No success there. He did further research and did some checking and found that the fuel fuse was blown - and that every time he put a new one in it blew again. Crazy - so it must be the wiring somewhere, right? Problem is the wiring is up underneath the car in an unreachable location. He ended up taking out the back seat and the drivers seat and the flooring to find the wire that was to blame... He worked on this off and on for days (in the meantime we had a baby and he had to use the suburban to get back and forth to work) It was driving him crazy that he couldn't find the blasted wire that was causing him all the grief. Finally in total exasperation, he gave in and towed it to a repair shop for an official diagnosis.
Turns out, there's a short in the alternator wiring. What? That's crazy! He just replaced the alternator 6 months ago - so hopefully there's still a warranty on it. Poor guy. all that time spent and it had nothing to do with the fuel pump. I'm proud of his persistence though.
Here it is with no driver seat - Kamron is sitting on the floor of the car.
