Construction Work

There is all kinds of construction work in the world. Some people do the foundation, some the walls, some the roof. Then there are those that do the electrical, heating, plumbing (kamron), painting, cabinets, etc.
My children are officially certified in all of the above. Last night they set to work building their very own houses. The foundation: a plastic tray and some icing. The walls: gingerbread. The shingles varied between gumdrops, mints, gumballs, and tiny candy balls. The sidewalks and windows varied as well. Even Oaklee made a delicious creation.
Tyson was very detail oriented and made sure every bit was decorated. And also made the following statement about every 3 minutes: "Don't copy mine"

Morrissa ran out of gumdrops on one side of the roof so the other is completely covered in tiny ball candy (and her chimney is shooting out sideways from the roof) - She also added a green bush to the front which I thought was very original.
Tate lost interest after about 4 minutes (not even joking) and ended up upstairs playing the playstation. I had to keep calling him back down to finish and within a few minutes eachtime he'd get distracted and leave again - hence the lack of decor to his house. (but he did spend alot of thought on it during the night, as he went hours without being able to sleep because he was "too busy thinking about his gingerbread house") Oh, and the majority of the time that he was actually in the kitchen was spent crawling under the table to find the candy he kept accidentally knocking down there (seriously, this was a very frequent occurrence)

Kyndi had a hard time with the icing so for the most part she told me where to put some and then she'd add the treats. I think she spent alot of time eating the treats as she went. In fact my favorite shingle on her roof is a piece of purple gum, that used to be an actual gumball until she chewed it and then stuck it to the roof.

Oaklee pretty much just sat and ate the candy. I constructed the walls for her, and put all the icing on in various places. After a little while she picked up the idea of sticking candy to the icing so she got a little decorating done. Most of the pieces on her house are candies she tried eating and spit out in disgust and then decided they'd be good to decorate with. (The following picture looks like she is being an excellent participator, putting treats on, but actually this picture is of her taking them off to eat)

Kyndi and Oaklee began demolition work first thing this morning.
